Having A Daisy kind of a BAD DAY? Feel like you’re Falling Apart?
Soulimprovementcenter.net by TB Demshuk
Maybe your toast fell jelly side down or someone cut you off or there is a pain an illness a death? Whatever it is, it really was only a bad moment, yet we like to prolong it into a full day.
You want a bad day then let’s look at a guy named Saul in the bible who gets blinded by a light that knocks him off his horse then he gets a new name. Paul. Oh! But the bad days get even better. Paul is beaten, put in jail, faces angry mobs, working to exhaustion with sleepless nights with no food or water (in II Corinth, 6:4-10) and then (in II Corinth. 11:23-33). Is whipped number of times 39 lashes EACH, facing death, 3 times beaten with a rod at the bottoms of his feet, stoned, shipwrecked 3 times, traveled in cold through floods, robbers, betrayed by friends, hated by the Gentiles as well as his fellow Jews.
Then of course you can read about the story of Job. It’s right in the center of the Bible.
In the end we must all decide what to do with the time we are given. Do we live in the past or keep moving forward to solve the problem because…
Time is too slow for those who wait
Too swift for those who fear
Too long for those who grieve
Too short for those who rejoice
But for those who love
Time is not!
What does Psalm 23 and Mt.5:14 have in Common with a Daisy?
“You are the light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden.
No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bushel basket; Instead, it is put on a lampstand, where it gives light for everyone in the house.
In the same way your light must shine before all people,
so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.” Mt 5:14

Psalm 23 from
The Shepherd:
I am the Good Shepherd. You have everything you need.
I let you rest in the green meadows, and I lead you beside the quiet streams.
I will give you strength. I help you do what honors Me most.
And even when walking through the dark valley of death
You should not be afraid
For I am close by your side, guarding & guiding all the way.
I provide delicious food for you in the presence of your enemies.
I have welcomed you as My guest where blessings overflow!
My goodness, kindness & unfailing love shall be with you
All the days of your life
And afterwards you will live with Me forever in My house.
So, Has Life Gotten You Down?
Overwhelmed in grief?
Covered over in despair?
Has it felt sometimes like you’re in a bushel basket of troubles
you just want to hide under?
Have struggles been pulling your Daisy life apart?
You may think…
“How am I going to get through it all?”
A Story:
“Charlie Brown and his good friend Linus were sitting on a school yard bench under a tree having lunch. It was a beautiful day filled with God’s wonder. As Charlie Brown saw the little red-haired girl his heart just skipped a beat as these feelings of love welled up inside. Looking down he picked up a beautiful white daisy and began that old ritual of pulling each pedal saying “She loves me. She loves me not.” And as the last pedal fell to the ground Charlie Brown sighed “She loves me not” Then Linus gently spoke as a good friend would “It amazes me Charlie Brown how a flower could have the gift of Prophecy.” Charlie Brown looked at Linus with a deep sigh, “You are probably right Linus” God’s love is in everything and everyone. There are no “nots” He just loves Me!
Sometimes I think we all become bushel basket Christians
We hide ourselves from the pain
But eventually someone will find us – WE HOPE
…and they will try to lift the heavy cover
that bushel basket type of cover
we are hiding under.
It is what we are all called to do –
To be Bushel Basket lifters
And pedal picker uppers.
To help each other!
To be there…
Even if it is just to help someone cry
because no one cries the wrong way.
It is a call we all have within
to be that Encourager
That light enhancer.
That helps with picking up the pieces
And why?
Because
We have all been there
Under that bushel basket of life’s unfair covers
We all know what it is like…
Losing daisy pedals of hope
Hiding our light, our gifts…
Life is just not fair
Sometimes it is just easier to hide, ignore,
to be left alone to somehow find peace, rest or relief.
But to suffer alone only suffocates our life.
We are not alone.
There is always someone looking for us
Because…
Jesus loves us too much to leave us there
God our Father calls for us to come out of our Adam and Eve solution
Of playing “Hide and Seek
AS God our Father Calls out
“Come out, come out wherever you are?”
But we don’t want to…
Because
HE might see us
and ask us for something
we don’t want to do
or let go of.
We’ve become too used to hiding, too comfortable
maybe even too complacent?
But God doesn’t see it that way.
He wants our light to shine.
He needs our light to shine…
if He is to save the world.
For you see we are all pieces of God’s great design of life
and like a great puzzle
The picture of life would not be complete
without each of us playing our part!
The missing piece is hiding and needs to be found.
So, in your prayers today
Remember me
and all of us bushel basket Christians
who from time to time
Think that
by hiding under the basket weaving of pedals and troubles
we will solve or heal or make
whatever is out there
or whatever is inside here
go away.
It just doesn’t work that way.
Remember when Humpty Dumpty had her great fall
No one could put Humpty together at all…But God Can!
Because the more ridiculous it seems
The more miraculous God will make it
And we know He can
If we let Him in with hope.
So, with His light in us together we will shine through any
bushel basket trouble we may want to hide under
because if we think about it and pray about it long enough
We will come to know 3 things:
“God never leaves us”
that
“He loves the word “Impossible””
And
“That there isn’t anything together we cannot accomplish”
Because we have allowed His kingdom to come in our life
His will be done in our life
His Name to become HOLY in our life
Now as if we were in heaven…
Don’t be Surprised! Good things can happen!
A Personal Encouraging Note:
When I was very little, just a baby I remember my Mom would hold me close as she looked at me with her warm loving eyes only a mother can have and would begin to rock me to sleep as she wiped the tears from my eyes singing: “I love you a bushel and a peck a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck a hug around the neck” Over and over she would sing and as I fell asleep safe and secure in her warm embrace she would whisper her favorite tune:
“I’ll give you a daisy a day dear
I’ll give you a daisy a day.
I’ll love you until the rivers run still
And the 4 winds we know blow away…”
Jesus chose to go through hell because He did not want to be in heaven without us. We are precious and loved and Jesus thought we are all worth it. Even in giving us His own Blessed Mother for those times when there is no one else to hold us.
The truth of the matter is… We never asked for them or never wanted them, but God thought that we were all privileged to have crosses to bare, and it is in how we carry them that we show our love.
A PRAYER TOOL TO REMEMBER:
The Complete Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things or (people) I cannot change, courage to change the things or (people) I can, and the wisdom to know the difference (is in me) living one day at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, taking as You, Jesus, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it, trusting that You, Lord, will make all things right if I surrender to Your will, so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen.
Action point:
In your travels if you meet someone in need be that encourager and pass this on because whatever is given is never lost and instead is received back 100-fold.
Be not a shadow rather be that light that will reignite a smoldering wick to shine again.
